Henry Sigurd Nygaard
1929~2016
Oakley, UT-Our optimistic, kind father was reunited with his eternal sweetheart December 29, 2016. Henry Sigurd Nygaard was born in Salt Lake City on January 14, 1929, to Sigurd Olaf Nygaard and Dagmar Sofia Andersen. He lightened the load of many through his service in various roles in the community, as an attorney, and in his many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He lived as Jesus Christ wants us to live. He was serving as the Sunday School teacher for the 12 year olds when he passed away. His encouraging words, happy disposition, and his simple acts of kindness will be deeply missed by all. His example encourages us all to continue to strive to live the Savior's way - "after the manner of happiness". Henry married Grace Ann Lawrence in the Salt Lake Temple on June 12, 1958. Four daughters were born of this marriage, Jane Davis (Mark), Ann Beckstead (David), Gretchen Durham (Mark), Julie Johnston (Marty). He is survived by his daughters, brother Richard Olaf Nygaard, 22 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.
