Jim was born October 28, 1934 in Sperry, Oklahoma at the home of his grandparents, William Larkin and Grace Capps.

He graduated from Grapeland High School where he lettered in basketball and football. He attended Howard County College in Athens, and continued his education at the Univerity of Chicago Banking School, and later taught courses at American Institute of Banking. He was a member of Trinity Tabernacle in Baytown.

He loved his planes, boat and Harley Davidson's. He enjoyed Salmon Lake Bluegrass Festivals, Hot Rod Tours with his son and grandson, and the Ivey/Marshall family events at Felders Chapel Assembly of God in Grapeland.

Jim will be fondly remembered for his humor, business advice, love and support. He will be greatly missed.

Interment will be at the Resthaven family plot in Houston.
