Joseph Spalding Morris, 76, of Oklahoma City, passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, at his home.

Joseph was born in Rocky Ford, Colorado, in 1940, to Edward and Margaret Morris. He attended Colorado State University before joining the Air Force. Joseph met his wife, Virginia, in Wichita Falls, Texas, on a blind date. They married in 1964 and moved to Oklahoma City where he worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for the entirety of his career, retiring in 2011.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Virginia; daughter, Sherry and her husband Paul Wilson; and son, David, all of Oklahoma City; his sister, Catherine and her husband Tony, who live in Denver, Colorado; and his brother, Edward, who lives in Rocky Ford, Colorado. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Margaret, of Rocky Ford, Colorado; and three sisters, Emily Morris, Mary Cook and Rose Pelster.

A memorial service for Joseph Morris will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, January 9, 2017, at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, 3925 North Asbury Avenue, Bethany, Oklahoma. A funeral will be held Friday, January 13, 2017, at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma.

Donations in Joseph's name may be sent to the Central Oklahoma Humane Society, 7500 North Western Avenue, Oklahoma City.
