Brian Kelly Smith was born in West Plains, Missouri, on March 6, 1969, to Ruth (Piercy) Smith and Donald Ray Smith. They moved to Heber Springs in 1972, and he graduated from Heber Springs High School in 1988. Brian was very friendly and easy-going, always smiling and ready to help friends or family with any task. He was a carpenter by trade, employed most recently with Birdsong Builders. Brian had one son, Bryce Smith, and was a truly devoted father. His main hobbies were music and doing anything with his son. Brian and Bryce enjoyed playing games together and building model cars. They also really enjoyed fishing together. Brian was preceded in death by his father, Donald Ray Smith. He leaves behind his son, Bryce Smith; his mother, Ruth Fricke, and stepfather, Gene Fricke; brother, Michael Marion Smith, all of Heber Springs, one sister, Patricia Lynn Johnson of Pekin, Illinois; and another brother, Dennis Ray Smith of Monroe, Louisiana; He had nieces Allison and Ashley Smith, Alisha Lyons, and Megan Harlan, nephew, Jacob Johnson, and step-nephew, Jimmy Johnson, Jr., along with numerous cousins and friends.

Visitation will begin Friday, Feb. 18, at 6:00 P.M. in the Olmstead Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 19, at 2:00 P.M. in the Olmstead Chapel with Rev. Grant Vannatter officiating. Interment will follow in Heber Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Benny Duncan, Zachary Morris, Joe Roberts, Thomas Skipper, Scott Pitts, Matthew Brown, and Billy Sparkman. Honorary pallbearer is Bryce Smith. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
