Loren Lee Herren the son of Loren E. Herren and Ruth Gieman Kitchen was born in Illinois on June 9, 1929 and passed away in Searcy, Arkansas on February 4, 2005 at the age of 75 years. Mr. Herren was a retired electrical engineer. His religious belief was protestant. He was a resident of Heber Springs since 1972 and was the past fire chief of Fairfield Bay having retired in 1975. He was a 32 degree mason and member of the Heber Springs lodge and also a member in Davenport, Iowa, He was a shriner, a member of the Toastmasters of America, the Sierra Club, Nature Conservatory, a troop leader of the Boy Scouts, a baseball and softball coach and avid hiker and backpacker and a man of great character and integrity. He is survived by his wife Betty Spence Herren of Heber Springs. a daughter Pam Beckham and son in law Dickey of Heber Springs, a son Loren Lee Herren Jr. and daughter in law Valerie of Little Rock, a son Mark Herren of Heber Springs and a daughter Anna Garman and son in law Dick of Pekin, Illinois. His mother in law Mary Spence of Heber Springs. Seven Grandchildren Christy Cook, Jamie Jarvis and husband Jeff of Heber Springs, Chance of Little Rock, Lauren Herren of Heber Springs, Jennifer Long and husband Patrick of Mackinaw, Illinois, Lindsey Garman of Pekin, Illinois and Kelsey Garman of Murray, Utah. Two Great Grandchildren Matthew Cook and Maygan Jarvis both of Heber Springs. Mr. Herren is also survived by other relatives and many friends.


A memorial service was held Sunday February 6, 2005 at Olmstead Funeral Chapel at 2:00 PM by Rev. John Miles. Arrangements by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. of Heber Springs.
