Sandi was born August 20, 1948 in El Paso, Texas to Kenneth Franklin Lowe and Virginia Lowers Lowe. On
December 29, 1973, she married Ronald W. Lanning in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They made their home in
Artesia for most of their wedded life.
Sandi is survived by husband Ronnie of the family home, daughter-in-law Jill Lanning and granddaughters
Madison and Reghan of Chandler, Arizona, son Travis Lanning and wife Courtney and grandchildren
Jackson and Harper of Artesia.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Roy Lanning.
Sandi was active in First United Methodist Church, Secretary of the Artesia Public Library Board of Directors
and Secretary of the Library Building Committee. She was instrumental in starting Friends of the Artesia
Public Library, a longtime member of Chapter AQ, PEO Sisterhood, and Chairwoman of the Board of
Directors for Grammy’s House. She was a recipient of Devon Energy’s Hometown Hero Award in 2015 and
of the New Mexico Library Association’s Amigo Award in 2014. She loved beauty, and was an accomplished
watercolorist and floral designer.
Honorary Pallbearers include all members of Chapter AQ, PEO Sisterhood, and special friends Mary Liles,
Casey White and Max Ratliff, all of Artesia, Cheryl Digman-Poe of Albuquerque, and Suzy Reeves of Fort
Sumner, New Mexico.
