Girvies Eugene French, age 74, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away at his home on Saturday, January 15, 2005. Born in Paragould, Arkansas, on June 24, 1930, he was the son of the late Girvies and Bertha (Stacy) French. Mr. French had been a resident of Heber Springs for the past fifteen years. He was retired from the United States Air Force, having served in security operations, and he was a member of the American Air Force Association. Mr. French was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Hester, Chester, Leonard, and Llinney French; and two sisters, Lillie May Hall and Josephine French. Survivors include one son, Larry French; one daughter and son-in-law, Nina and Ray Gandy of Pottscamp, Mississippi; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Maful Irene and Howard W. McCoy of Rockport, Texas, and Sarah and James Hall of North Carolina; his niece, Paulette Towery of North Carolina; three grandchildren, Ginger, Melissa, and Rhiana; four great-grandsons, Clay, Alec, Arec, and Jason; and special friends, Grant and Johnie Hurley. Mr. French is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 20, from 12:00-1:45 P.M. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Graveside services with military honors will begin at 2:00 P.M. at Cleburne County Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bennie Foster officiating. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
