Miltary Notes - Civil War
02 June 1862 3rd Kentucky Infantry Co. L
1864 12th Tennessee Infantry Co. E

After the Civil War, Wilson and Mary (and children: Josiah, Jesse, Harriett, Martha and Mary) moved to St. Claire County, Illinois. Wilson Rosin Walker left Illinois sometime between 1870 and 1878, and headed to Texas, where some family lived. The last trace of Mary Beard Walker is in the 1870 St. Clair County, Illinois census. In he census, children listed are Harriett, Martha and Mary. It is believed Mary died between 1870 and 1878 and it is unclear if she ever made it to Texas.

Wilson, now a widower, first lived in Greenville, a small town in Hunt County Texas. There he met Sarah D. Thompson. He was 52 years old and Sarah was 28 years old when they married on July 20, 1879. They had two children, Ada Viola, born June 21, 1880 and John Nealy, born July 18, 1882. There is very little information found about Sarah and her family. She appears in the 1880 U.S. Census, showing she is from Alabama and born about 1861. I believe that Sarah died some time after John’s birth.

After Sarah’s death, Wilson was unable to care for Ada and John. The three of them moved to Forney and Wilson turned to his daughter, Martha and her husband, Robert Horton for help. In the 1900 Forney, Kaufman County TX Census Martha and A. Robert Horton, a painter have two children, Colen and Carl. Also living with them are Ada and John.
