Tyler was born on September 22, 1954 in Topeka, Kansas to the union of Leland James and Peggy Sue (Owlsey). Tyler graduated from Baxter Springs High School with the class of 1972. He then attended Missouri Southern State College, where he received a bachelor's degree in History Education and Special Education.
Tyler was a professional musician playing in several different bands. The last six months he enjoyed playing with his brother and nephew in the band called Built for Comfort. In 1991 he started working for the Pittsburg School district as a special education teacher, retiring in 1999. Tyler was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Galena, KS and St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Pittsburg, KS. Tyler enjoyed music, sports, poetry, and loved reading his bible.
Tyler was united in marriage to Debi (Moudy) Ogle on January 14, 1982 in Miami, OK. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include four children; Kristen Ogle, April Underwood and husband Jason, Kari Romero and husband Justin, and Adam Ogle and wife Kristi; two brothers, Perry Ogle and Leland Ogle Jr.; one sister, Ellen Cummings; twelve grandchildren, Skyler Blue, Jaxon, Jaden, Leila, Gabe, Jack, Kate, Addyson, Lyric, Braydon, Gavin, and Hazley; along with several nieces and nephews.
Tyler is preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 30, 2015 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Galena, KS. Father Bill Wolff will officiate. Family will receive friends on Sunday, November 29, 2015 from 2:00-4:00 p.m., at Derfelt's Baxter Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Ogle family in care of the funeral home. Tyler has been entrusted to Derfelt's Baxter Chapel for cremation.
