Inez Calhoun went by Inez but was named after her father. According to her immediate family and family history her name was Clifford Inez Morgan Calhoun.

The former Inez Morgan was born into a pioneer Sumter County Family on April 8, 1913 in Americus, Georgia. She was married to John Wesley Calhoun for more that 60 years. She was the beloved mother of three children. One sister, Annie Reid Morgan Langtry, preceded her in death.

A graduate of University of Georgia, she lived in Tifton for 45 years. She taught kindergarten, private speech and Sunday School. She was also reference and children's librarian at the Tifton-Tift County Public Library for 29 years.

Very active in garden club work and flower show judging, she was a member of Azalea Garden Club and one of the initial recipients of the Distinguished Service Award by Tifton's Council of Garden Clubs. She was a national Flower Show Judge, Master Emeritus.

In community service she made in distinct contributions in numerous local and statewide garden club projects, had a key role in Tifton's becoming a bird sanctuary and served meals on wheels for 15 years. She was a member of The Christian Science Society in Albany and the First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts.
