James was married to Eliza and had 10 children. From what I can tell James and Eliza were pioneers of Boulder. James remarried Mary Schoenfield June 17 1907.

At one point there was a memorial for James here but someone took it down. As far as we know James is buried at this cemetery in an unmarked grave as is Eliza.

Obituary from January 15 1916 The Boulder Monitor

James Bailey and old-time resident of our town died in a local hospital in Butte last Tuesday he was brought to Basin for burial. It talks about friends and relatives attending Rev. Farris of Boulder preached. It says Mr. and Mrs. R. H Pierce (Laura), Mr. and Mrs. McFarland (unknown), Mr. and Mrs. J.M (James Monroe), Mr. and Mrs. Pat Paquin (unknown) Miss Eva Pierce relatives of the late James Bailey came over from Butte to attend. Ben (Ruben) Bailey came to Basin from Ulm Mont. to attend the funeral of his father.

Its possible from the obit that James may be buried in Basin. For now to help others searching our family I will leave his memorial here with his first wife Eliza.

James and Eliza had 10 children together. One obituary for Eliza mentions one dying quite young.
