Thomas Edison Hall, 78, of Moultrie, Ga. died Friday, January 6, 2017 at Magnolia Manor in Moultrie.
Born September 19, 1938 in Hazlehurst, Ga., he was the son of the late Ledley Harvey Hall and Minnie Lou Herrington Hall.
Mr. Hall graduated from Jeff Davis County High School in 1956 and graduated from Valdosta State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education in 1961. He furthered his education and in 1970 he received a Master's degree in physics at Mississippi State University. Mr. Hall began his teaching career at Moultrie Junior High School, where he taught science for several years and later moved to the Colquitt County High School. He was named State Science Teacher of the Year in 1978 and in March 1990, Colquitt County Teacher of the Year in 1985, STAR Teacher in 1979, Milkin Award Winner in 1990, and Presidential Teacher of the Year Winner in 1993. Mr. Hall retired in May 2010 from Colquitt County High School after 49 years as a beloved AP Physics teacher.
Survivors include his wife, Sara Revills Hall of Moultrie, Ga.; son, Gregory David Hall of Hoover, Ala.; daughter Jenny Melissa Hall of Moultrie, Ga.; grandchild, Evan Hall; half-sisters, Lane Burnett, Judy Wehunt, and Shirley Adams.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Steve Grantham and the Rev. Joe Smith officiating.
Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery in Cook County.
Casketbearers will be Evan Hall, Walter Harrison, Johnny Branton; Rick Brunner and Billy McCoy serving as honorary casketbearers.
Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
