Pioneer Building Contractor and Civic Leader of Chico, Butte Couty, California. The son of John and Susan Rinehart of Illinois, he came to California in 1853 and worked as a carpenter, erecting many of the early business and school buildings in Butte County. In 1901 he built a large beet sugar factory and warehouse for the Alvarado Sugar Company on Thomas Creek near Tehama. He was a trustee of the Chico School Board for 21 years. Husband of Lovie M. (Guill) Rinehart, they came to Los Angeles, where most of their children lived, just weeks before his death at age 77.
