Art was born on October 30, 1924 to Bert Saylor Sr. and Donna (Banfield) Saylor at home in Fredonia Township. He attended Marshall Public Schools and graduated from Marshall High School in 1943. He was married to Gail Bartlett on January 21, 1950. The couple made their home in Marshall area all of their lives. She preceded him in death on April 26, 2014.
Art worked with his brother and father on the family dairy farm in Fredonia Township his entire life. He also worked for over 40 years at Stanley Packing Company as a meat cutter.
He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran who served with the 11th Airborne Division as a paratrooper.
Art was an avid sports fan and enjoyed outdoor activities. He liked to hunt and ice fish. Art was a pitcher in Fast Pitch Softball leagues. He golfed and bowled in Marshall leagues. He enjoyed playing bridge.
He was a member of Marshall Moose Lodge #676 and a Lifetime Member of Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post #4073. One of Art's proudest achievements was being a 14 gallon donor for the American Red Cross blood drive program.
Surviving are his daughter, 2 sons, 4 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, brother-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
Art was also preceded in death by his parents, sister Loretta Wheeler, brother and sister-in-law Bert Jr. and Annabelle Saylor, and daughter-in-law Sue Saylor.
Burial at Oakridge Cemetery.
