James Richard Alls, 82, of Salem, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017. He was born in Montgomery County Virginia. He worked for Cooper Industries for 35 years. James was a faithful member of House of Prayer church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Inez Alls; his loving wife, Kathleen; son, Roger Lee Alls; great-grandson, Grayson Cornette; sister, Phyllis Gallimore; brother, Gerald Alls. James is survived by his daughters, Neida Greer, Patricia Alls, Norma Alls; grand-daughters, Angela Cornette and husband Jamee, and Chasity Greer; great- grandchildren, Lilian Cornette and Hunter Chrisley; sisters, Clorene Brizendine, Evelyne Mueller, and Charlotte Ratcliff. Special thanks to his hospice nurse Terry, his niece Selena, and special friends Carl and Suzi for helping make James's life special. Visitation will be held Friday, January 13, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. in Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Service will be held at House of Prayer Church Saturday, January 14, 2017 1 p.m. Inurnment will be private.
