Ellsworth (Steve) N. Stephenson, age 85 of Plymouth, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth J. (Merrill) Stephenson who passed away in 2015. Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Waldo and Georgia (Kinney) Stephenson. Mr. Stephenson was raised in Hartford CT and had lived in Babylon NY for 56 years prior to recently moving to Plymouth, MA. Steve was a proud veteran, serving with the US Army during the Korean War from 1951 | 1953. Before retirement, Mr. Stephenson was employed as a special education teacher and social worker, primarily with Nassau County B.O.C.E.S. in Syosset, NY. Steve received undergraduate degrees from the University of Hartford and Hofstra University, as well as a Masters Degree from SUNY Stony Brook. In recent years, he was a proud member of the NY State Society for Clinical Social Work. Steve enjoyed the company of his grandchildren and always looked forward to the annual camping trip he took with his sons and friends. Mr. Stephenson is survived by his children, David M. Stephenson and wife Michelle of Taunton, and Scott D. Stephenson and wife Lori of Plymouth, and was the loving grandfather of Victoria, Olivia and Daniel. He was also the brother of the late Wendell Stephenson A private graveside service was held in Cedar Knoll Cemetery in East Taunton. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Mr. Stephensons memory may be made to; Disabled American Veterans 5-7 Taunton Green, Taunton MA 02780 , would be deeply appreciated.
