Lieutenant John Screven, who was born November 23, 1750, and died September 2, 1801.

He was the third son of James Screven and Mary Hyrne Smith, daughter of Thomas Smith, 2d Landgrave of Carolina and his second wife, Mary Hyrne, daughter of Edward Hyrne, from the county of Norfolk, England, and his wife Elizabeth Massingbird.

John Screven was Lieutenant of the St. John's Rangers and served with the command of his elder brother, General James Screven, who was killed at Medway, Georgia.
