Mr. Wilson N. "Jack" Bakner, 85, a resident of Beverly Healthcare, Fayetteville, PA and formerly of 411 Greenwood Street, Mont Alto, PA, died at 7:30 A.M. Tuesday May 27, 2003 in the Chambersburg Hospital. He had been in failing health for the past year and critically ill for the past month.
Born April 16, 1918 in Fairview, PA, he was the son of the late John and Littie (Misner) Bakner. He lived his early life in Fairview.
Mr. Bakner attended Fairview schools.
He and his wife, the late Margaret Belle (Jones) Bakner were married in April 1938 in Hagerstown, MD. They moved to the Greenwood Street address in 1954. Mrs. Bakner died on October 28, 2001. Mr. Bakner entered the nursing home in July 2002.
Mr. Bakner was a self-employed mason, building numerous homes in the area, until his retirement in 1980.
He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Mont Alto.
He is survived by two sons, Tedford W. "Ted" Bakner, Mont Alto and Robert L. Bakner, South Mountain, PA; four grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Creager, a resident of Beverly Healthcare, Fayetteville; one brother, Eugene Bakner, Fox Hill, PA; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie Searfoss and Mary Sease; and two brothers Richard Bakner and Ordean Bakner.

He attended Fairview schools.

A self-employed mason, he built homes in the area, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Mont Alto.

He is survived by two sons, Tedford W. Bakner of Mont Alto and Robert L. Bakner of South Mountain, Pa.; one sister, Betty Creager of Beverly Healthcare; one brother, Eugene Bakner of Fox Hill, Pa.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie Searfoss and Mary Sease; and two brothers, Richard Bakner and Ordean Bakner.

Services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, Mont Alto. The Rev. Robert L. Basom and Pastor Frank T. Kocek will officiate. Burial will be in Quincy (Pa.) Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday at 12:30 p.m. at the church.
