Mr. Charles L. "Peck" Beeler, 88, of 2 West Third Street, Waynesboro and a guest of Quincy United Methodist Home, Quincy, PA since August 11, 2001 died at 9:52 A.M. Monday, December 3, 2001 in the nursing home. He was in failing health for the past two years and critically ill for the past month.
Born August 28, 1913 in Tomstown, PA he was the son of the late Roy A. and Mary H. (Rowe) Beeler. He lived his early life in Tomstown and the Quincy Township areas.
Mr. Beeler graduated from the Quincy High School with the class of 1931.
He and his late wife, Mrs. Thelma R. (Carbaugh) Beeler were married on March 22, 1941 in Westminster, MD. Following there marriage they moved to New Franklin, PA and then to Quincy and to the present residence in October 1964. Mrs. Beeler died on March 31, 1994.
Mr. Beeler was employed at Landis Tool Co., Waynesboro from 1935 thru 1958 as a supervisor and then from 1958 thru 1964 he worked in the maintenance department at Quincy United Methodist Home. Prior to retiring in 1979 he returned to Landis Tool as a supervisor. Following his retirement he worked as a security guard from 1983 thru December 2000 at Keystone Homes, Rouzerville. He also was a lot man at Brake Potomac and Cadillac, Waynesboro and then after Lynn's Dealership purchased the business he remained with the business for a short time.
He attended the Calvary Assembly of God Church, Waynesboro and was a member of the Waynesboro Fish and Game Assn., life member of the Blue Ridge Sportsman Assn. and a member of the George Washington Free and Accepted Mason Lodge 143, Chambersburg.
He is survived by two children, C. Ronald Beeler and Trudy Ann Dively both of Waynesboro, two granddaughters,Sherry and Sonja, one great-granddaughter and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Moats, Elizabeth Beeler and Irene Nelson and one brother, Walter Beeler.
