Carol was a very talented lady, and she could do many things and do them well. She was an artist and painted beautiful pictures. She was also a talented seamstress, and she enjoyed sewing clothing, dolls, and stuffed animals, and making quilted items for her family to enjoy. Carol crocheted and knitted many lovely things, including hats for cancer patients and newborns at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

She loved nature and flowers and found great enjoyment in the hummingbirds and Baltimore orioles that came to visit the feeders in her yard. She also enjoyed talking about a baby robin she found in her driveway one summer. He was so young that he hardly had any feathers, and when the parents did not return for him, she named him Bobbin and fed and nurtured him until he was old enough to survive on his own. Another one of Carol's favorite activities was watching the eagles in Decorah, Iowa, on the Decorah Eagles Nest Live Cam.

Most of all, Carol loved her family. She took great delight in talking about them and sharing pictures of her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. When she was in her eighties, she joined facebook, so she could keep up with her granddaughters' activities.

She also shared her time helping others by volunteering at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center and later Hospice and the Mississippi Regional Valley Blood Center.

Carol's favorite expression was, "Lord help me, the sea is so wide & my boat is so small."

She will be greatly missed by her family and by her many good friends, including myself.
