William R. "Bill" Ellison, 94, husband of the late Aileen Eaton Ellison, died January 14, 2017 .

Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Bessie Mae Watson Ellison and Charles Ambrose Ellison. Bill had been a faithful, active member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, in the Cheddar community, where he served in numerous capacities throughout his 75 years there, until his recent illness. Bill graduated from high school at Cedar Grove School and served in the Army's 10th mountain division in Italy in WWII.

In addition to his wife of 60 years, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Haynie and Charles; and one infant sister, Margaret.

Survivors include two sons, Ray and Richard (Peggy); and one daughter, Sylvia (Larry) Williams; sisters, Ruth Caldwell and Joyce Dean of Belton; brother, Mahlon Ellison of Williamston. He had six grandchildren: Craig and Ken Ellison, Melissa Hood, Tracy E. Lollis, Emery Williams, and Joellyn Hayden. He had 13 great-grandchildren, the pride of his life, Drew and Anna Hood, Matt and Thomas Ellison, Sydney Bracken, Cassidy and Kennedy Lollis, Emery II, Kai and Jada Williams, Joeli, Carrie and Jonathan Hayden. He is also survived by his special friend, Vonnie Ellison.

Burial: Cedar Grove Baptist Church cemetery.
