Anna M. Brooks, 92, of Bainbridge Island peacefully passed away on February 25, 2014. Born on December 10, 1921, in Mott, ND to Andrew and Sophia (Kost) Fiedler. She grew up attending a one-room schoolhouse in Mott, ND. She later met David C. Brooks and they married on August 10, 1940. Anna and Dave owned and operated Brooks Bargain House in Yakima, WA for over 40 years. She was a member of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary since 1948, and a supporting member of Al-Anon. Anna and Dave loved to fish with family and friends. Everyone loved her fried fish. She was an avid bowler and belonged to various leagues. She donated her time to RSVP for many years. Thousands of fortunate people wore her hand made hats and mittens. She also spent many years making quilts for the family. She is preceded in death by her parents; best friend and husband, David; siblings, Andrew, Arnold, Walter, Karl, and Henry (infant) Fiedler; Ida Hintz and Alvina Jones; grandson, Stuart C. Vance. She is survived by her son, David W. Brooks (Gloria) of Rio Rancho, NM; daughters, Geraldine A. Vance (Gary) of Poulsbo, WA, Claire M. Lee of Greeley, CO; grandchildren, Trevor K. Vance (Dana) of Everett, WA, Michael D. Lee of Loveland, CO, John D. Brooks of Rio Rancho, NM; great-grandchildren, Erin T. Vance of Bellingham, WA, Jon S. Vance of Seattle, WA.
