He was born on May 23, 1937 in Stokes County, NC to the late Eugene Roscoe McKinney and Mamie Mozelle Dunivant McKinney.
Mr. McKinney is survived by three sons: David (Marty) McKinney, Arnold Dean McKinney, and Darryl (Monique) McKinney; two sisters: Jettie Frye and Sylvia White; and six grandchildren: Matthew (Erika) McKinney, Ashton McKinney, Taylor McKinney, Landon McKinney, Miranda (Johnathan) McHone, and Hannah McKinney.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Nancy Alley McKinney; four brothers: Baxter McKinney, Rex McKinney, Doug McKinney, and Tom McKinney; three sisters: June McKinney, Marie McKinney, and Alice Faye McKinney; and two brother-in-laws: Carl Frye and Bill White.
A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Stoney Ridge Baptist Church at 2 PM with Rev. Dean White and Rev. Yates Wilkinson officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 to 2:00 PM at Stoney Ridge Baptist Church and other times at the home of James A. McKinney.
Memorials may be made in floral tribute or to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
