Alexzander "Zander" Vernon Philip Barr, 18, of La Porte passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Root Funeral Home. Private family burial will take place in Rolling Prairie Cemetery at a later date. Viewing will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Root Funeral Home.
Zander was born June 6, 1998, in Michigan City, to Philip and Constance "Connie" (Volstorf) Barr who are surviving in La Porte.
Also surviving is one brother, Braeden Barr of La Porte; grandparents, Mary Barr of La Porte, Ruth Keen of La Porte and Phillip Volstorf of Michigan City; and many loving aunts, uncle, cousins and friends.
Zander is preceded in death by his grandfather Vernon "Jim" Barr.
Zander was a student at Purdue Northwest.
He was a member of the Indiana Youth Legislative Council and was a Senate Page for Sen. James Arnold. He was an honor roll student, active in the Boy Scouts and loved robotics. He was also a member of EAA, Young Eagles and loved to read, being outdoors hiking, writing stories and watching "Dr. Who."
