FORT WORTH - L.T. "Skin" Tyes, 80, a retired form setter, died Sunday, 21 Jan 1996 at a Fort Worth hospital.
Funeral: 1 p.m. Friday at Clinton Avenue Baptist Church. Burial: Cedar Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: Noon to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Wake: 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Tyes was born Nov. 14, 1915, in Kerens, West Virginia, to Boyd Lee and Willie Richardson Tyes. L.T. was reared in rural Navarro County and attended public schools. He came to Fort Worth more than 60 years ago and settled on the north side.
Skin worked for many construction companies as a form setter. He was a World War II Army veteran. He had a friendly and sociable personality, and he loved playing dominoes and had mastered the game.
In addition, he was a handyman and poured his own sidewalks. He kept a well-manicured yard and liked feeding the neighborhood cats.
Survivors: Son, Sammie Hemphill; two daughters, Shelia Russell and Wanda White; brother, Willie A. Tyes; two sisters, Tressa Mae Brooks and Bertha Lee Wilkins; two grandchildren, Brandon White and Raymond White; nephew, Dale Reed; and many other nephews, nieces, cousins, other family members and friends.
