Geneva was born in Fleming County, Ky. to the late James and Martha (Weaver) Adkins and had been a resident of Marion since 1941. Geneva married LeRoy M. Abernathy on April 16, 1959, he preceded her in death on July 28, 2000. She retired from General Tire in 1975. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 10, AmVets Auxiliary Post 5 and the VFW Auxiliary. She loved to play Bingo.

Survivors include her son, William S. (Marcia) Adkins, Marion; grandsons, Dan (Lisa) Adkins, LaFontaine; and Mike (Patricia) Adkins, Marion; granddaughter, Patricia Lynn (Merrill) Speer, Ark.; great grandchildren, Sarah Stewart, Crystal Speer, and Emma Adkins; and her pet dog, "Baby".

She was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
