Dessie was born in Loudon Twp., Fayette County, Il. on March 9, 1909, the daughter of George Washington and Mary Vernisha Wright Hissong. She had been a resident of St. Elmo since January 1990.
She married Edward C. Rhodes in Fayette County on Aug 18, 1927. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are her sisters, Carrie Pryor of St. Elmo and Belle Dial of Cowden; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, twin sister Elsie Myers on Feb 7, 1998; sisters, Nellie Logsdon, Matilda Badman, Gertie Scholes; two brothers, Harry and Jim Hissong; and two infant daughters, Lola Loraine and Wandalee Lucille.
