She enjoyed her life as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her passion for the Lord was well spent on nurturing her family. Her faithful stewardship as a Woman of God, lead her to begin ministering to the young as well as the old. She never met a stranger she couldn't talk to, and her compassion for the Lord was evidence that allowed her light to shine. Anna loved speaking on the goodness of God, and she would often visit with the homeless, helping in any way she could.
Anna had many passions in her life, but she especially loved singing. Her beautiful angelic voice touched many. She allowed her passion for singing to be heard over the radio as well as at events and in church. Another great passion of hers was cooking. She put her heart and soul into whatever she prepared. She also enjoyed reading. Anna was a woman of great wisdom and an impeccable dresser.
Anna's history goes back to her grandparents, great-grandparents and great-great-grandparents, who founded the first black church in Cassopolis, MI, known as the Chain Lakes Missionary Baptist Church which still stands today. This rich history has also been published in book form. Her maternal grandparents originated from Jamaica—at that time, part of the West Indies.
She leaves to cherish her blessed memory: sons, Mack E. Forrest of San Diego and Anthony Thompson of Chicago; daughters, Alice E. Forrest of South Bend, Jana R. (Darnell) Bryant of San Diego, Pamela R. (Carey) Wade of Richton Park, IL, Cheryl D. Anderson of Chicago, and daughter-in-law Beverly Forrest of Chicago; brothers, Luther (Anna) Anderson of Indianapolis, Ralph (Kay) Anderson of Fort Wayne, IN, and Mike Anderson; sisters, Kay (David) Brooks and Elaine (Deon) Brooks, both of Fort Wayne; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and special cousins, Mary (Sherman) Streets and Eddie Thomas. She is preceded in death by her sons, Mitchell R. Forrest and Bruce W. Forrest as well as her brother, Reggie Anderson.
