A loving sister, mother and grandmother.

In her youth Miss Hanes, along with her sister, Ruie, and brother, Fred, sang in the threesome called the Hanes Trio. On occasion their eldest sibling, Flossie, would accompany them playing guitar. They performed at local community events as entertainment.

After finishing her schooling in Phillipston she went on to train as a nurse although it seems her new husband and children put her career on the permanent back burner.

Beverly loved sweets especially from Priscilla's Candy Shop in Gardner, Massachusetts. She was always doing crossword puzzles and like her siblings she loved singing and playing the piano or organ.

She was the center of the family and was always spoiling her kids and grandkids with lots to eat and always a dessert or two for afterwards. Many times she would get the whole family to sit around the table and play Rummy, Pokeno, Scrabble or Yahtzee. Gram would lovingly greet her grandchildren with hugs and she would occasionally rub the edge of their ears softly between her fingers for some added affection.

Her birth certificate and gravestone both say she was born on January 6th. She was actually born on June 6th though and she used to joke about the mixup at town hall. Whichever date was more convenient at the time for her is the one she would use - for example collecting social securtity 5 months early. Beverly is not listed in the 1930 US Census and she would have been if she was born in January because that census records every family member who was alive as of April 1st - the census day.

Note: Beverly is the 6th generation buried in Lower Cemetery. Her siblings and parents, Seth and Myrtle (Alger) Hanes, are buried along side her. Seth was a WWI veteran of the US Army. His parents are buried in Maine.

The next plot to the left is Beverly's maternal grandparents, Chenny and Lillia (Ward) Alger. The next few generations of Alger ancestors are buried in Winchendon.

The plot directly in front of the Alger plot, continuing Beverly's maternal line, is her great-grandparents, Freeman and Abbie (Lamb) Ward. The previous generations of Wards, descended from Revolutionary War Gen. Artemas Ward, are buried up the road in the Center Cemetery.

Moving closer toward the front of the cemetery and across a grass-covered access for vehicles (directly in front of the Ward plot) is the location of Abbie Lamb's parents, William J. and Augusta (Cummings) Lamb. William was a Civil War veteran. Augusta's parents are buried in Center Cemetery.

Finally to the left of William and Augusta and not more than 30 feet from Beverly, is the plot for William's parents, Benjamin H. and Jane (Bronsdon) Lamb - Beverly's great great great grandparents.

Beverly married three times:

Ernest E. Amidon on August 23, 1949 at Keene, N.H.

Perley F. Butler on December 11, 1971 at Hinsdale, N.H.

John J. Sendrowski on June 1, 1979 at Gardner, MA.
