Dr. Neil D. Adams, age 72, died peacefully on January 21, 2017 in Paducah, Kentucky surrounded by family.
He was born July 7, 1944 to Robert and Arlie (née Jones) Adams in Stanford, KY. He received a B.S. in Physics and Math from Eastern Kentucky College (now EKU), he then earned his PhD in Physics at the University of Kentucky. While there, Neil fell head over heels in love with Renee Bledsoe and married her in 1968. Dr. Adams worked at Paducah Community College teaching physics and engineering for 28 years. He served as the Division Chairman for Science, Math and Nursing. He was honored to be chosen as a Kentucky Colonel in 2012 and was a member of Reidland United Methodist Church. His greatest joy was his time spent with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Dr. Adams is survived by his wife of 48 years, Renee Adams; two daughters, Dr. Krista L. Adams of Lincoln NE and Shawnda Pacheco and husband Carlos of Paducah; grandchildren, Nadia, Robert Mikhail, and Daniela Pacheco of Paducah and Selenia Ortiz of Paducah; a brother, Halbert Adams and wife Sandra of Conroe, TX; brother-in-law, Charles Bledsoe and wife Andrea of Shepherdsville, KY; four nieces, Pam Chaples of Lawrenceburg, KY, Cindy Sanden of O’Fallon, IL, Tamara Holland of Conroe, TX and Maggie Bledsoe of Shepherdsville, KY; three nephews, Kevin Adams of Conroe, TX, Jeb Bledsoe and Charlie Bledsoe of Shepherdsville, KY and several great nieces and nephews.
Dr. Adams was proceeded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Russell Bledsoe.
Funeral services for Dr. Neil Adams will be at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Paducah with Rev. Chuck Pittman officiating with burial to follow.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah until the funeral hour.
