R. David “Dave” Waggoner, 77, a lifelong Gwynneville resident, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis.

He was born February 23, 1939, in Hancock County, the son of Thomas M. and Nettie (Six) Waggoner. He married Juanita Hickman on January 19, 1957, and she survives.

Dave is also survived by his daughter, Terri Hagel and husband, Ted, of Arlington; son, David Waggoner and wife, Deborah, of Maysville, Kentucky; brother, Donald Waggoner of Gwynneville; grandchildren, Amanda, Elizabeth, Alison and Tom; great-grandchildren, Shane, J.D., Katie, Levi and Cole; stepgreat-grandchildren, Alissa, Taylor and Alayna; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Dan Waggoner.

Dave graduated from Morristown High School in 1957.

He was a member of Gwynneville Christian Church, where he formerly served as an elder and a deacon.

Dave served in the Army National Guard for 10 years.

He retired from Allison General Motors in 1994, with 30 years of service.

Dave enjoyed caning chairs and woodworking.

He was a three times State Champion in archery.

Dave also trained standardbred horses for racing.

He also leaves behind his cat, Jingles.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St. in Morristown.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the funeral home, with Pastor Kevin Powell officiating.

Interment will be at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.
