Anna M. “Annie” (Harner) Brown, 66, of 689 Steinruck Road, Benton, died Saturday afternoon, Jan. 21, 2017, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She had been in failing health since 2010.
Born Dec. 4, 1950, at the Bloomsburg Hospital, she was the youngest daughter of the late Ralph Shuey Harner and Ruth Mae (Hittle) Harner. She and her husband, David E. Brown, would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary on March 23.
Mrs. Brown attended schools in Numidia and later at Benton High School. She had been employed by Milco Industries in Benton for a few years and had also worked as a Stanley Home Products representative under Devona Albertson since 1985. Stanley was a big part of her life, and she especially enjoyed going on the company trips.
She was an active member of Zion United Church of Christ and had assisted with the church dinners. She was also a member of the Christian Women’s Group. She enjoyed the monthly potluck dinners with the girls at the Old Filling Station Restaurant in Benton.
Her hobbies included bingo and crossword puzzles. She especially enjoyed going on bus trips to Atlantic City’s casinos.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, David, are her siblings: Betty Evans and her husband, Wally, of Bloomsburg; Ralph “Junior” Harner and his wife, Diane, of Danville; Laura Evert and her husband, Dale, of Bloomsburg; a sister-in-law, Ann Marie Albertson, of Berwick; a brother-in-law, Marvin Brown, of California, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons: Brian L. Brown, on Aug. 17, 2002, and David Eugene Brown Jr., in 1968. Also preceding her in death were the following siblings: Clarence “Chink” Harner, Marlin “Monk” Harner, Richard “Pete” Harner, Carl Harner and Alice Becker.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at the McMichael Funeral Home Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (Route 487), with Pastor Nancy Light Hardy officiating. Private burial will be in Zion Cemetery.
