Helen (Ashook) Cabeceiras, 89, formerly of Friendship St., passed away November 30th, at Southpointe Rehab Center. Widow of Raymond Cabeceiras, to whom she was married for 64 years, born in Fall River and a lifelong resident, Helen was the daughter of the late Elias and Nasyra (Kaliff) Ashook.

Excelling in home economics at BMC Durfee High School, she went on to become an amazing baker and cook. For 23 years, she tremendously enjoyed being a teacher’s aide at the former Fowler School on Sprague St. where she was loved by children and staff alike. Helen’s greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren. Upon retiring from the school department, she became very involved their lives from participating in school activities, taking them for swimming lessons, to training them as sous chefs when preparing many meals. Helen was the beloved mother of Dr. Karen C. Sheehan and Dr. David E. Cabeceiras; grandmother of Stefanie Lynch, Jeffrey David Cabeceiras, Stafford Wheeler Sheehan and Alexander Hall Sheehan; great grandmother of Regan Elizabeth Lynch; sister of the late Annie and Herbert Ashook. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. Her funeral was private.
