A 1941 graduate of Elgin High School, James Mullen was a decorated World War II combat veteran serving in North Africa, France, The Philippines and Japan. Spending most of his career in sales and marketing management, Mr. Mullen was also an active member of the community donating time to the PTA, scouting and the American Legion where he held a membership for 50 years. During his retirement, Mr. Mullen's volunteer work as a legal advocate for the elderly was granted special recognition by the Governor of Arizona.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary (Morley), who died in 1976 and his second wife, Jean (Keffer-Baxter), who died in 2004. He is survived by his children: Kathleen Schneider of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Patricia Cross of San Antonio, Texas, Gregory Mullen of Elgin and Michael Mullen of Park Ridge, Illinois. Other survivors include eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren as well as offspring of his late wife, Jean.
A memorial service is to be held in Santa Fe National Cemetery on January, 28th, 2005.
