Abraham Crawford is the son of Minicazewin (1840-1904) and Hitican (1841-1900). He was born in 1882 in Canada. When he was around 2yrs old he, his mom and maternal grandmother immigrated to the USA.

His maternal grandparents are Wagi (1820) and Hanyetuhiyayewin (1825-1910). You mostly find him on the Census with his grandma Hanyetuhiayewin throughout his early to late teen years, this might mean that his father passed away and his mother re-married. I was told that if a parent passed away and the mother remaries that the maternal grandparents will ususally raise the child. It is stated in his probate that his father died in Canada. So, seeing his mother Minicagewin with Piya Iyo'tanke on the census and not Abel would make sense.

He spent most of his years in South Dakota.

He became a reverend by following in his adotped father's foot steps, Charles Crawford. He preached at the Buffalo Lake Church. He sat on many boards and also was Secretary of the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate.

He married Cora Labelle in 1903. Abe and Cora had a farm in Buffalo Lake by lake Pyre. They raised cattle and chickens. They also had horses on the farm. There were so many memories shared of their farm by family to me. I wish I would have written them down.
In that union they had seven children:

Earl Aaron Crawford
1904–1933
Theodore Crawford Sr
1907–1931
Francis Layton Crawford
1908–2012
Abraham Lincoln Crawford
1911–1966
Lester Percy Crawford Sr
1913–1965
Lloyd N Crawford Sr
1918–1971
Eugene R Crawford
1928–1986
