The listing from a 1943 survey of Linwood Cemetery by the LDS Southern States Mission shows: KNOWLES, Infant dau. of Pries & Josephine Knowles b. 18 Aug. 1865, d. 19 Sept. 1865. [This list has been alphabetized and so does not indicate the location of this grave within the cemetery or its proximity to others graves.]
Mary Jane Galer's "COLUMBUS, GA: Lists of People, 1828-1852, and Sexton's Reports to 1866" (2000), p. 255, shows: child of R. [sic] KNOWLES died aged 1 month [cause of death not reported]; buried 21 MAR 1865 (from "July 1 to September 30,1865, Sexton's report for quarter," dated 09 OCT 1865).
Entry in the sexton's ledger book shows: Disinterred 2 children and reinterred on Lot, children of KNOLES, Lot No. 951 1/2, Section No. 2, per KNOLES. [This indicates the grave(s) having been moved, probably to make room for an additional grave in the family lot.]
The headstone for C. Augusta and her sister Ellen Virginia KNOWLES are reported in Lot 69 of Section A as, "1 baby brick slab, unable to read headstone," in Dolores Autry's "Historic Linwood Cemetery" book (edited by Lea Dowd et al.), Volume 1.
