A beautiful mausoleum on the grounds of East Lawn bears the name overhead and in large letters: Eva Pechart. She died at the age of 36. Married to Walter Pechart who was well-known in gambling circles both in California and Nevada. Her husband was from a wealthy Chico family and when a young man was often being bailed out of jail by his father (see various articles in the California Digital Newspaper Collection). He and Eva are listed in the 1940 U.S. Census, living in Oakland, CA. He was 17 years her senior. He re-married after her death and died more than two decades after his beloved Eva.
