He married Ethel Stockwell, and they had one child, Richard Everett Birch, in 1919. Ethel passed away the year after Richard was born in a Spanish flu epidemic. Edward later married Margaret Johnson, in Cadott, Wisconsin- February 28, 1932. They went on to have eight more children.
Edward was a farmer most of his life.
He was preceded in death by his first wife,Ethel, his parents, four brothers, and four sisters. He is survived by his second wife Margaret, six sons, three daughters, two brothers- Clarence and Fred Birch, and 18 grandchildren.
