Schlak Rites Held At Donnybrook

Funeral services were held from the Methodist church in Donnybrook yesterday afternoon, for Max C. Schlak, 72, longtime Donnybrook farmer, who passed away Saturday morning at the Deaconess hospital, death resulting from a heart ailment. The Rev. George Bauer of Kenmare, pastor of the church officiated, and interment was made in Rosehill cemetery in Minot. Pallbearers were Bennie Hagerud, Gurden Wentz, L.W. Wieman, Sim Olson, Ole Berg and James W. Crider.
The M. Ringen funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
Born in Germany, July 29, 1876, Schlak had lived in the United States for 55 years and in the Donnybrook community for 47 years.
He was married to Ella Pullen at Minot in 1903, and to this union were born five sons and a daughter. They are Otis and Earl, Minot; Wesley, San Pedro, CA. Maurice, Coulee; William,Vancouver, WA; Mrs. J.J. Wolfe, Yankton, S.D.
Mr. Schlak was subsequently married to Bertie Larson, of Garrison, on July 10, 1939, who survives, in addition to a son, Hillis and a daughter, Yolanda, at home.

He is also survived by a brother, Will Schlak, in Minnesota and eleven grandchildren.
