Nancy Clifton Harrison, 81, of Virginia Beach, departed this life on January 31, 2017.

Nancy was born December 2, 1935 in Roanoke, the eldest daughter of Frances and Emory Clifton, who were later longtime residents of Front Royal.

Nancy was the mother of three children, Wendell, Debra and Clifton. Her three sisters are Betty Jean Clifton of Stephens City, VA, Gail Clifton Guy of Stephens City, VA, and Patricia Ann Clifton, of Crozet, VA.

Nancy also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins all over the country and a dear sister-in-law, Alice Lee Stroop of Harrisonburg, VA.

Nancy graduated from Warren County High School, Class of 1954. She continued her studies attending Strayer College in Washington, D.C. and was later employed at the Pentagon.

She worked for various travel agencies and airlines including Frontier Airlines as a reservation agent in Denver and Salt Lake City.
She loved warm climates and spent most of her adult life in Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico.

She faithfully followed her favorite professional football team, the Denver Broncos. She was an avid traveler, loved meeting people and spending time with her friends and family.

Nancy will be interred in Arlington National Cemetery with her late husband, Robert "Dutch" Harrison, CMSGT, USAF.

Nancy Lou Clifton Harrison, 81, of VA passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017.

Nancy was born in Roanoke, VA the first of four beautiful daughters born to the late Emory Ewell Clifton and Frances Louise Lowry. The family moved to Front Royal, VA where her father was employed at American Viscose. The girls all attended schools in Warren County, VA. Nancy was a member of Warren County High School Class of 1954 in Front Royal. She was predeceased by her husband Robert "Dutch" Harrison who had been a sweetheart from Front Royal, VA - they met when she was 15 and he 17. After finding each other 53 years later, they married in July 2003.

Nancy had three children with Wendell Wiley Saunders: Wendell Wiley Saunders, Jr. of Georgia, Debra Saunders Franks of Renton, WA and Clifton Lee Saunders of Aurora, CO and 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Also left to cherish her memory are her 3 sisters, Betty Jean Clifton and Gail Pomeroy Guy of Stephens City, and Patricia Ann Clifton of Crozet near Charlottesville, VA.

Her ashes will be interred with her husband, Robert (Dutch) Harrison in Arlington Cemetery who died in 2008.
