Robert E. Abell

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Topeka Cemetery for Robert E. Abell, 85, 100 E. 9th, who died Monday at a Topeka hospital.

He was born Sept. 24, 1894, at Clifton, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Abell. He moved to Topeka with his parents and attended Topeka schools.

Mr. Abell worked for the Santa Fe Railway Co. for more than 45 years before retiring in 1965.
He was a veteran of World War I, during which he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Orient Lodge No. 51, AF&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies and the Shriners.
Mr. Abell was also a local musician.

He was married March 23, 1918, in Topeka, to Vera S. Eddy, who survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Roberta Monteith, 209 Elmwood, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
