Vertie Mae White, 85, Hope, Ind., died at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 1989, at the home of her daughter in Columbus, Ind.

She was born Sept. 10, 1903, in Perryville, Ky., the daughter of Robert T. and Laura Carpenter Reynolds. She married Charlie C. White March 19, 1922, in Jeffersonville, Ind., and he survives. She was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Decatur County.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Lloyd White, San Jose, Calif.; two daughters, Arnola Records, Edinburgh, Ind., and Idella Humbel of Columbus, Ind.; one sister, Nina Cocanougher, Harrodsburg, Ky.; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia F. McQueen, and two brothers, Addison and Lee Reynolds.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Norman Funeral Home, Hope, Ind., with the Rev. David Blazier, pastor of the Liberty Baptist Church officiating.

Burial will be in the Hartsville College Cemetery, Hartsville, Ind.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
