Acy was born December 11, 1921, at Wirt, Carter County, Oklahoma. He was the son of the late Acy Kimbro and Flossie (Brassfield) Kimbro. His sister Flora Kimbro Johnson passed in 1983, his sister Shirley Ann Kimbro Reinhart passed in 2006 and his brother Louie Donald Kimbro passed in 2007.
He married Ruth 'Dean' (Stauss) Kimbro on February 1, 1941, at Eufaula, McIntosh County, Oklahoma. To this union two children were born, Phyllis (Kimbro) Cata of Joplin, Missouri and longtime friend, Ronnie Hollaway and John A. Kimbro and wife Dianna Kimbro of Miami, Oklahoma. He is also survived by two sisters, Virginia Starr of Towanda, Kansas and Sally Jean Kimbro of Bixby, OK.
He had five grandchildren, Barbara McKnight Bareng and husband Dominie Bareng of Honolulu, Hawaii. Glenn McKnight and wife Deborah Overstreet McKnight of Serepta, La., Steve McKnight of Monroe, La., and William Acy McKnight and wife Sabrina McKnight of Neosho, Missouri and Shanna E. Kimbro Nordby and friend Ron McDaniel.
Great Grandchildren were: Christopher Bareng and Lindsey Bareng, Nikki McKnight Wages, Cody McKnight, Crystal McKnight, Brandy McKnight, Steve Dewayne McKnight, Jr., William Acy Kimbro McKnight, Miranda McKnight, Raven McKnight, Emulee Ruth Nordby, Catherine Elizabeth Hutchison, Henry Torres and James Chapman.
Acy had five Gr. Gr. Grandchildren of Louisiana.
Acy graduated High School from Eufaula, OK. and also from Electronic College in Kentucky in 1954. He joined the U.S. Army on Sept. 22, 1944. He was a World War II veteran and honorably discharged Nov. 3, 1945. He was a Pvt. In the U.S. Army and served as Military Police during WWII at Tulsa, OK., and Tyler, TX., then served in Germany and France as a Military Police Officer for Headquarters Company. He was also a replacement for the 106th Infantry Division. He also received the EMAE Theater Ribbon & Victory medal of WWII.
He worked at B.F. Goodrich Plant at Miami, OK., for 36 years.
Acy's love fro music and his guitar and piano were a big part of his life, his love for his family, and friends was never ending.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at the Paul Thomas Family Center. Funeral services will be Tuesday , February 2, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. the Paul Thomas Funeral Home, with Rev. Bob Barker officiating. Interment will be Glen Abby Memorial Gardens in Miami, Oklahoma. Pallbearers and Military Rites will be conducted by American Legion Post No. 147 Funeral Detail. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyson Keith and Ron McDaniels.
