Son of Alson Stager Little, Sr. & Margaret Grace (Snyder) Little. Killed in airplane crash in California, after flying in England during the blitz. Survived by a sister Frances Margaret Little Yingst, and brothers Robert Snyder Little and Jack Verdean Little. Obituary - Lieut. Little Killed in Plane Crash. Alson S. (Bubby) Little, Jr. 24, son of Jury Commissioner and Mrs. Alson S. Little, 711 Clayton Avenue, Waynesboro, was killed in an airplane accident about 4 o'clock Monday afternoon at Petaluma, California. Lieutenant Little crashed just two days after his twenty-fourth birthday. He was born in Waynesboro, the son of Alson S. (Si) and Margaret Grace (Snyder) Little and spent his life in Waynesboro. He attended the public schools and completed his high school course, with the exception of the senior year. He was employed by Audrey Stouffer, as a service station operator. Little enlisted with Company E, 104th Quartermasters Corp (MNG) at Camp Ritchie prior to the outbreak of the war and in February, 1941, was inducted into Federal service. He attended Camp Holabird Motor Transport School and was graduated there as an engine specialist and was placed in charge of the 104th garage at Fort George C. Meade. In September 1942, he was sent overseas and stationed in England. In January, 1943, he was returned to this country and enrolled as an aviation cadet at Nashville, Tenn. and was classified for pilot training. He was then stationed at Santa Anna Army Air Base, Blythe Army Air Field and Baker Field. He was graduated and received his commission and wings at Luke Field, Phoenix, Arizona. He received his advance training at Tacoma, Washington,and was then transferred to Santa Rosa. He was a member of the First Brethren Church and attended the Sunday school. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Pearson Little; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alson S. Little; a sister, Mrs. Chester (Frances) Yingst, at home, whose husband is a lieutenant in the Army, stationed somewhere in the Southwest Pacific, and a brother, Robert S. Little, Kessler Field, Miss, and Jackie at home. His maternal grandfather, H. E. Snyder, Quincy, also survives. Burial will be made in Quincy Cemetery with military honors. The firing squad was from the Letterkenny Ordnance Depot. Major Kregel conducted the burial service.
