Obituary

Funeral service for John Robert "Bobby" Lennard, 68, will be Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Kilgroe Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends today, February 8, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Lennard passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Edwin Lennard, Sr. and Mathel Virginia Jackson Lennard; brothers, Benjamin Edwin Lennard Jr. and Michael Lennard . He is survived by his wife, Kitty Lennard; He fought a long fight. He went on dialysis in 1982. In 1983, he had a kidney transplant that continued to work up until the time of his death. In 2003, he found out he had kidney cancer. They removed the old kidney and, with treatment, thought he was free of cancer. The cancer returned in 2009 in his liver and he continued to work for a year. He has fought hard the last 6 years, but he is now at peace. Special thanks to his Dr's Richard Lyerly who cared for him for 33 years, and also Dr. Abele who also cared for him almost the same time.
