Funeral services for Mrs. Flowers Jenkins Pope, widow of William {sic} Green Pope of Lumberton, were conducted from the home on Second street Thursday at 3:30 p m. by Dr. C. H. Durham, pastor of the First Baptist church of Lumberton, of which she was a member, assisted by Rev. R. L. Alexander, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, and Rev. I. P. Hedgpeth of Lumberton. A large throng of relatives and friends gathers for the rites and followed the remains to Meadowbrook cemetery for interment. The grave there was banked with lovely flowers.
Pallbearers were W. A. Roach, E. M. McMillan, J. T. Biggs, Ed Floyd, B. F. McMillan, Fred Townsend. Flowers were in charge of Mesdames W. A. Roach, B. F. McMillan, D. D. King, Callie Williams, William Norment Jr., Miss Maggie Pittman.
Mrs. Pope died in Duke hospital, Durham, early Wednesday morning. She was carried to the hospital by ambulance Saturday before.
