From the Funeral Program of Anna C. Fusco

Anna Fusco was born on May 19, 1910, in Brainerd, Minnesota, the sixth of ten children born to Eric and Emma Erickson. The family arrived in America from Sweden in 1908 and Anna was their first child born here. She was baptized and confirmed in the Swedish language at Clara Lutheran Church, of the Augustana Synod, in Brainerd. On September 26, 2001, at the age of 91, she died in Christ the Park View Home in West Seattle.

Anna attended public school and grew up in Brainerd. In 1928 she moved to Minneapolis where she lived for eight years. After working the summer in Glacier National Park she moved to Seattle. On October 21, 1939 she married Joseph William Fusco in Tacoma, WA, to who she was married until his death on June 24, 1984. Their marriage was blessed with a son, Richard Joseph (1945-1989).

After they were married, Anna was in charge of the dining room at the Exetor Hotel for five years. Then she worked at Boeing two years. After that she owned and operated the L Street Grocery in Tacoma for two years. In 1950 they moved to West Seattle and she began work at the Washington Athletic Club, where she stayed employed until her retirement in 1971.

She attended First Lutheran Church of West Seattle as soon as they moved here and on December 12, 1954, became a member. Anna was active in the Ladies' Aid. She alternated supervising the Nursery on Sunday, teaching Sunday School, helping with Bible School and servicing on Altar Guild. She helped serve the Golden Fellowship lunches for ten years. Anna loved her church. With a generous gift in 1998 she helped pay for the restoration of the parish lounge and the chancel area of the church.

She is survived by her sisters, Bertha Olson and Gertrude South, her beloved "second-cousin", Ila Gangnes, and her close friend and executor, Michael Spurzem, as well as by many nieces and nephews. Anna will be missed. May God bless her memory among us.
