Blossom Chapline was born on July 25, 1906 in Natches, Missisipi to William Chapline and Lula (Jones) Chapline.

After Blossom's father died, her mother married Charles Riggs. Blossom and her brothers and sisters grew up in Ferriday, Louisiana.

She married Fred Ernest Anderson on 16 Apr 1932 in Fort Morgan, Colorado. They had one child together -- a son named for his father. They raised him on their family farm in Purcell, Colorado.

Blossom received her bachelor's degree from Colorado State College of Education. She received her master's degree at Denver University and did some post-graduate work at Colorado University in Boulder.

She taught elementary school for 20 years in Westminster, Colorado until her retirement in 1969. Earlier, she had also taught in Ault and Purcell, Colorado, and in Louisiana.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Westminster.

Fred crossed over in 1962. Eleven years later, Blossom married Jess Schmitt on June 9, 1973, in Westminster. They remained together until his passing in 2000.

Blossom died at home on April 18, 2003, in Atchison, Kansas, at the age of 96.
