Ashton Michael Carl Holtz, age 22, resident of Ft. Scott, KS, died Sunday evening, February 5, 2017, in Ft. Scott. He was born in Kansas City, MO, on June 20, 1994, to his mother Amber Rohlmeier and father Michael Holtz, Jr. He went to Fort Scott High school where he played football. He then moved to Topeka, KS, where he became a member of the Kansas National Guard. He attended basic training and advanced individual training to be a light wheeled mechanic at Fort Jackson, SC. During this time he and his wife, Faith Thomas-Holtz, had three children; Masson (born in Ft. Scott), Isabell (born in Topeka) and Hunter (born in Ft. Scott). While residing in Topeka, he worked as a Security Guard. He, along with his family, moved to Fort Scott in June of 2015. He completed and passed the written tests to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License and was in the process of enrolling at Washburn Tech Commercial Truck Driving School at the time of his death.

Survivors include his wife Faith Holtz of Fort Scott, KS; children, Masson and Isabell of Fort Scott, KS, and Hunter of Topeka, KS; father, Michael Holtz, Jr. of Topeka, KS; mother Amber Rohlmeier of Lake City, FL; step-father Doyle Clark of Lawrence, KS; step-mother Shawna Holtz of Topeka, KS; grandmother Patsy Holtz of Topeka, KS; grandfather Lyle Rohlmeier of Lawrence, KS; grandmother Andrea Knickerbocker of Lawrence, KS; sisters Jordan, Miranda, and Madison Clark of Lawrence, KS; and brother Jeremias Clark of Lawrence, KS. Ashton was proceeded in death by his grandfather Michael Holtz, Sr. and brother Samuel Holtz.

Rev. Chuck Russell will conduct funeral services at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 18th, at the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Centerville Cemetery, Devon, KS. Military Honors will be provided by the Kansas National Guard Honors squad. The Patriot Guards will stand guard at PFC Ashton Holtz funeral and will escort the funeral procession to Centerville Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Ashton Holtz Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, PO Box 347, 201 S. Main, Ft. Scott, KS 66701.
