Fiorina Lena Mary Dal Porto was born in Marchitti, San Genese, Lucca, Italy to Annunziata and Federigo Luporini on December 5, 1921. She was 95 years young when she passed on to the Lord and Nelo on January 31, 2017. She was living at Fry's Care Home.

She came to America in 1930 on a ship called Rome and went thru Ellis Island where her name was shortened to Lena Mary Luporini. The family came across the country on a train where all the relatives were waiting in San Francisco. They lived in Half Moon Bay for awhile, but didn't like it so moved to North Beach. She went to Garfield Grammar School with her brothers Frank and Evo, and was teased for her lack of English. She walked the Golden Gate Bridge when it opened.

She met Nelo in 1939 and they dated for 9 months. They got married at St. Peter & Paul Church in San Francisco on January 6, 1940 and moved to Arcata where they lived with his parents. They rented an apartment on G Street that still stands today. Their first born, Michael, was born in 1941 and their daughter, Diana was born in 1943 while they lived there. In 1944, Nelo's Dad passed away in an accident at the Barrel Factory and they moved back in with his Mother and sister Eva.

Lena loved people and her jobs showed it. She worked at the Barrel Factory and then they owned Northtown 5 & 10, Hutchins Grocery and 4th Street Market where she had a hand in all the businesses Nelo had in Arcata. Lena also worked for the Big 4 Inn for 5 years. She sent cards for birthdays, anniversaries, Easter, Christmas, Halloween and Thanksgiving to everyone she knew. She even bought a card for her husband for every occasion and hung it next to his picture after his death.

She loved God and prayed to him a lot. She loved going to church and would not miss a Sunday unless she was sick. She could not drive, but went to church each day. She was a charter member of Legion of Mary, and joined the Sons of Italy and the Italian Catholic Federation. She loved her family so much, all of them including nieces and nephews. She loved to crochet and made a lot of beautiful things for the family and friends.

Lena is survived by her children Mike Dal Porto (Joan) and Diana Bridges Ellis and her grandchildren Todd Ellis, Donnie Ellis (Joyce), Kim Miller (Marilyn), Danny Dal Porto (Terri), Philip Dal Porto (Robyn), Jodie Stanley (Tim), Jamie Hammer (Mark) and Kenneth Dal Porto (Angie) along with 19 great grandchildren and 8 great-greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Frank Luporini, many nieces and nephews and other relatives in Italy. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Nelo Dal Porto, her mother and father Annunziata & Federigo Luporini, great grandson Michael Dal Porto, great great grandson Jerimiah Dal Porto, son in law Don Ellis, nephew Don Vanni, niece Linda Shar, brother Evo Luporini and sister in law Nida Vanni, brother in law Angelo Vanni, sister in law Josephini Luporini, sister in law Eva Dal Porto, uncle Fred Dal Porto and sister in law Mary Luporini.
